This photograph marks the beginning of the second half of the year!

For the second year in a row Mark, Pete and I went on our four-day tour around an area of the UK. This time we were joined by Phil on his Triumph Trophy. It was a great long weekend with (mainly) good weather, we did some great riding, enjoyed some good food and drink and saw some amazing scenery.

We also met some new friends, Rev Al and Tobit which was fantastic. Rev Al rides a BMW 1100, is vicar of numerous village churches and one of the licencees of the lovely Yarcombe Inn.

It was so good that I’ve already booked the time off work for next year…

This may not be a great photograph in the classic sense, but it’s an unusual one. I spotted this Land Rover LRX prototype driving through the town centre and had to run after it to grab this shot before the traffic lights changed. As my friend Thomas says, the best camera is the one you have with you, so I’m glad the iphone was in my pocket!

22/52 – Summer in the Country

This is the first experiment that I’ve done with an unusual viewpoint. For this shot I held the camera right down in the grass and had to move it around to try and get the autofocus on the flowers in the foreground rather than at the sheep in the field. I’m quite pleased with how well it’s turned out.

This week my friend Mark has loaned me his old Nikon dSLR. Although it’s mind-bogglingly complicated to work, it really does give a lot more control over the image that you end up with. That said, you clearly need to be mind-bogglingly more in control…
